When Pets Cross Over: The Rainbow Bridge

"Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.

There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.

The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together...."

I really like this poem. I find it to be very true from what the animals have communicated to me. However, there is some additional information I am being told from animals that have crossed over the rainbow bridge to share with you.

When the animals cross the rainbow bridge, they are always greeted by someone there. They do not want you to think that they cross the bridge alone. From what I have been shown, the animals are met at the beginning of the bridge by loved ones and they are escorted by them to the other side of the bridge. Their greeting with one another is done with lots of love and happiness. The event is quite joyous. It is like a big family reunion with pure love and joy. I have also had animals tell me that when they cross the rainbow bridge, it is like a “birthday” to them for their new life.

The animals want you to know that once their spirit leaves their body, that does not mean they are no longer around you. Nor do they want you to think that the rainbow bridge is a far away place from you. Their spirit is very much around you and they are still very much a part of your life. They send you signs to let you know that they are around, you just have to be open to see the signs! If you aren’t seeing them or don’t know what they are, you can ask out loud for them to show you some type of sign as a confirmation. If you ask for a certain animal, be sure to be open to it, not just being a real animal but it can be a picture of an animal in a book, magazine, on tv, on a card, or a shirt. You need to be open to receive the signs they are sending. And yes, they are sending you signs to let you know they are around.

Finally, they want you to know that the love they have for you does not stop when they cross the rainbow bridge. I have had deceased animals communicate to me that they “love” their humans. They do not use the word “loved” as that is in past tense. Their love for their humans continues on and they want you to know that.

This blog is a new project for me!

I will be sharing stories of animals that have inspired or challenged me, resources for pet owners and those who love animals, and interesting news and updates in our community.
